Local leaders and community members officially open the Million Pines Farmers Market during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, May 29, in Soperton, GA. The city-operated market will feature local vendors every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon under the SPLOST funded pavilion.
MOCO SUPERINTENDENT’S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL SPOTLIGHT – The Montgomery County School System Superintendent’s Student Advisory Council has worked tirelessly throughout the 2024-2025 school year to help better the school for students and promote literacy throughout the district. Council Member Calli Rodgers recently completed a literacy project where she read “Where the Wild Things Are” to a class and then helped the students to create little sock monsters, like those in the book. Rodgers said she chose the activity because the book was one of her own childhood favorites.
NEW LOOK — Finishing touches are put on a graphic at the Wheeler County School athletic field. A project to upgrade the appearance of buildings within the sports complex included painting and graphics at the old gym, the press box, visitor’s locker room and concession stand.
VISITING SOMEWHERE SPECIAL – The Mount Vernon Garden Club always visits somewhere special during the month of May. So on May 13, the Club traveled to County Farm Plant Company in Baxley.
