Montgomery County Elementary School (MCES) students learned more about the careers beyond agriculture and farming during a Career Day event on May 12. Each year, the School works to educate students on the importance of agriculture and the many careers that the industry offers during a Farm Day event in the fall. This year, the School held an additional Career Day in the Spring, as students learned more about careers in the area beyond farming and agriculture to help ensure that they fully understand all that they may become in the future.
Several local businesses and professionals attended the event, such as Dave Allen – Paul Thigpen Chevrolet; Jordan Powell – Wholesale Customs; Regan Graham and Blake Kirby – Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Labor and Delivery and Brewton-Parker Christian University Nursing Department; Vicki Jay – Photography; Nikki McDaniel – Creative Hairstyles; Victoria Mock – Air Evac; Hillary Earls – Bryant & O’Connor Law Firm; Drew James – Toombs-Montgomery EMS; Bo and Brody Fountain – Ailey Fire Department; Dylan Bennett – Department of Natural Resources; Ailey Howell and Gabby Nelms – Rooted & Wilde; and Luke Kicklighter – Film Industry.
School officials shared their gratitude to these participants for taking time to show the students a small bit about what these professionals do each day.

COMMUNITY SERVANTS – During the recent Montgomery County Elementary School Career Day, students were able to learn about community servants who work to keep the community safe, as Ailey Firefighter Bo Fountain allowed the students to get an up-close look at a fire truck that serves the County.
