Lyons City Council Addresses Zoning Requests

During the meeting on November 10, the Lyons City Council voted on several zoning variances, including one variance that would allow a duplex to be built within the city.

Preston Eggler previously requested to rezone the property located at 288 S. Lanier Street from R-1 to R-2 for the purpose of building a duplex. The proposal went before the Council and Mayor Willis NeSmith Jr. requested that Eggler create a blueprint drawing of the duplex’s parking lot and present it to the zoning committee. Eggler complied with the request and met with the Planning and Zoning Board for the second time, and the Board recommended that the Council approve the request. The request passed unanimously.

A zoning variance was also granted for the property at 118 Tapley Street to allow Profitwoods the ability to place a mobile home on the lot. The Council denied Archie Howell’s request to rezone his property from R-2 to A-1 to allow him to raise livestock.

The next Lyons City Council meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, in the council chambers.
