The Montgomery County Public Library recently announced their Summer Reading and Summer Performers Programs, which will kick off on Wednesday, May 27.

Each year, the library works to schedule exciting and educational performers to help children learn while having fun, even when they are not in school. The library also has created an immersive summer reading program, which ensures that students are continuing to work on literacy throughout the months that they have a break from school.

This year, the Summer Reading Program is themed “Unearth A Story,” and will feature numerous dinosaur activities. The Program requires students to register to participate through Beanstack, as it helps to track the books that have been read and what to read next. Preregistration can be completed as early as Thursday, May 22; registration officially opens on Tuesday, May 26. Registration may be completed by visiting beanstack.com.

The Summer Reading and Performers Program will kick off with an event featuring games and other fun activities at the library from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27. On that same day, the local Montgomery County 4-H will host a community bingo for children and families at the library, as Farm Time Bingo will kick off at 4 p.m.

At 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will inform attendees of the summer program about how deputies and other law enforcement officers work to solve crimes during a program entitled, “Crime Scene Investigations and the Science Behind It.”

The Wild Wonders Animal Show will entertain program attendees at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10.

Chad Crews will wow the audience with his excellent juggling skills at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17.

The Magic Man Bill Packard will mystify the crowd with his tricks at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24.

Southeastern Reptile Rescue will teach attendees about various snakes and other reptiles during their show at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1.

All of these events are free and open to the public and will be held at the library’s location at 215 Railroad Avenue in Mount Vernon. Registration is not required for the Summer Performers Programs.
