Salem Wins Savannah Race


Local Vidalia runner, Daniel Salem, took part in the Savannah Publix Women's Half Marathon and 5k and came away as the overall winner of the 5k. The race is to raise awareness and funds towards women's health.
Salem had a good showing as he ran the 5k through 11 of the squares in downtown Savannah, ending the race in Forsyth Park. He came in a with a time of 19:16.61 to take the top spot. There were between 2,500 and 3,000 runners that took part in the event, dubbed the most beautiful race in the South.
Salem said that as he was coming into the final 800m of the race and heard the announcer say they had a few runners entering the park, he knew he had a chance to win, so he gave it his all and came out on top.
