Lyons Youth Tournament Hosts 14u Girls

Lyons', Vidalia's, and Wheeler County's 14u girls All-Star teams both took part in the 61st Annual Lyons Youth Tournament beginning on May 14. Wheeler had the best run of the local teams in the tournament as they took third place.

Vidalia and Wheeler kicked off the tournament as they faced each other in the first round. Wheeler came out on top, 5-3, to move on in the winners' bracket. Lyons also won their first game as they defeated Hawkinsville, 20-0.

Both Wheeler and Lyons lost in their next games in the winners' bracket. Wheeler County fell to Emanuel County 4-3. Long County defeated Lyons 11-1. That sent both teams into the losers' bracket.

The first matchup in the losers' bracket was between Lyons and Vidalia. Lyons took the win, 13-2, to advance to the next round, and the loss ended the tournament for Vidalia. Wheeler also won their next game as they defeated Hawskinsville, 164.

That set up the next round of the losers' bracket between Lyons and Wheeler. Wheeler took the win 12-2 over Lyons to end the tournament for LRD. That also moved Wheeler into the semifinals of the losers' bracket.

Wheeler took on Emanuel County in that game and fell, 9-1. That sent Wheeler home and Emanuel into the Championship Game against Long County.

Long took the win in the Championship Game, 5-4, to take home the title.
