Lyons Man Arrested for December Murder

A Lyons man has been arrested for the murder of Savahna Rashona Chamblee, which occurred on December 19, 2023.

The Vidalia Police Department (VPD) responded to reports of a patient with a gunshot wound at the Memorial Health Meadows Hospital at 1:56 p.m. on December 19. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Chamblee, 18, of Soperton, was in critical condition. She was later flown to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah where she succumbed to her injuries.

A homicide investigation was conducted jointly by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the VPD, which identified Joshawn Devonte Troupe, 18, of Lyons as the primary suspect. Troupe was arrested for murder by the VPD on Wednesday, March 27.
