TCHS Sweeps Vidalia

The Toombs County High School soccer teams swept Vidalia High School last week and then dropped two games to Appling County, with the boys game going all the way to a shoot out before a winner was decided.

Girls vs. Vidalia

It was a close game in the first half as Toombs and Vidalia were tied at 1-1 on Tuesday in Lyons.

But in the second half of the contest the Lady Bulldogs found their groove and found the back of the net three more times. That gave TCHS a 4-1 win over the Lady Indians.

Boys vs. Vidalia

In the boys game against the Indians, Toombs took control in the first half and cruised to a win. The Bulldogs scored three goals in the first half while keeping the Indians out of the net. In the second half the Bulldogs added one more on the way to a 4-0 shutout. vs. Appling

The girls couldn't carry that momentum over as they fell to the Lady Pirates 3-1.

The boys game was a defensive battle. There was no score in the first half of the game, and then in the second half neither team could score either. That sent the game to overtime at 0-0. Neither team scored over either of the two overtime periods, which sent the game to a shootout. In the shootout the Pirates came out on top with a 4-1 victory over the Bulldogs.

This is the final week of the regular season for Toombs. The Lady Bulldogs are currently 9-7-1 overall and are 8-6 in Region play and are in fourth place in Region 3AA. The boys are 11-6 overall and are 8-6 in Region play as well and are in fifth place in the Region. This week they wrapped up the regular season on Tuesday against Bradwell Institute after presstime.
