Mrs. Brenda Thompkins

Mrs. Brenda Martin Thompkins, age 69, of Mount Vernon, died on Saturday, April 23, 2022, at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Thompkins was born in Lumberton, NC, and grew up in the Carolinas. She spent 20 years of her life as a nurse caring for others, and the majority of the rest of her years as a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elsie Lee Britt and Marshall Martin; her grandparents, sister, and granddaughter, Amber.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, David “Ricky” Thompkins; a daughter, Angela Clifton; 1 son, David Thompkins; a daughter, Jessica Thompkins; 2 grandchildren, Meghan Griffin and Joshua Clifton; and several other family members and friends.

The funeral service was held on Monday, April 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, with Pastor John D. Griffin officiating. Burial followed at Mount Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mikey Clifton, Scottie Griffin, Shawn Weeks, Chad Coleman, Bobby Johnson, and Leon “Little Len” Edge.
