Mr. Carris Evans

Mr. Carris Walter Evans, age 85, of Alamo, died on April 15, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Evans was born in Wheeler County. He served in the United States Army, as sergeant of the 7th Army during the Berlin Crisis. He worked at Oxford Shirt Factory in Alamo for 33 years, Savannah Luggage in Vidalia for 6 years, and Easter Seals in Soperton for 20 years. He was also a farmer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Reva Wyatt Evans; and siblings, Jean Evans (Dewitt) Clark and Mable Evans (Billy) Purvis.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Ann Cherry Evans; his children, Tammy Evans Murdaugh and Ricky (Renae) Evans; 4 grandchildren, Drew (Katy) Murdaugh, Kayla Murdaugh, Rancelyn Evans, and Roxy Evans; 3 great-grandchildren, Lily Bales, Ivy Bales, and Daisy Murdaugh; 1 sister, Judy Evans of California; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., at Erick Cemetery in Alamo, with Rev. Wayne Bennett officiating.
