VHS Tennis Plays ECI

After the Vidalia High School girls tennis team dropped their first match of the season with Appling County Monday afternoon, the Lady Indians came back strong on Wednesday evening to defeat Emanuel County Institute with a convincing 5-0 win.

Alli Taufmann at 1st singles won 6-1, 6-0. KarleMcDonaldat 2nd singles won, 6-0, 6-0, and Bess Wilcox at 3rd singles won, 6-1, 6-2. It took two tie-breakers, but Emma Beck and Kailyn Walker came through with a victory at 1st doubles (6-4, 6-7, 10-3 (Tie Breaker). Abby Brantley and Jesslyn Collins at 2nd doubles also won convincingly 6-0, 6-0.

The Boys’ team was not as successful, losing to ECI 1-4. Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen came through with the team’s only victory at 1st doubles with a score of 6-3, 6-4.

This week VHS was at Toombs County on Tuesday after presstime. They will play on Wednesday at Jeff Davis at 4:30 p.m., and then on Thursday they will be at Swainsboro at 4:30 p.m.
