Wheeler Units Respond To Structural Fire

Several Wheeler County volunteer fire departments and a firefighting unit from Montgomery County Correctional Facility were called out Monday, February 14, to extinguish a blaze near Glenwood.

Wheeler County EMA Director Steve Adams said crews responded to 120 Bobcat Lane off of Ochwalkee Creek Road shortly before 11 a.m.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find an abandoned house on the property fully engulfed by flames. Reports that a man was seen leaving the scene of the fire could not be confirmed.

Adams said firefighters, who soon learned after arriving that the structure was unoccupied, were not able to save the burning structure but prevented the fire from spreading to another house nearby.
