Vikings Win Over Telfair

The Vikings basketball team of Treutlen County High School took on Telfair County, Jenkins County and Dublin last week. The girls dropped all three of their games while the boys got a win over Telfair.

The girls lost to the Lady Trojans of Telfair, 65– 24. The boys team had a better day as they picked up a win over the Trojans.

Telfair led the game 19-18 at the end of the first period, and in the second they pushed that lead to 33-29.

But in the third the Vikings came back as they outscored the Trojans 23-13. That put Treutlen on top 52-46. Treutlen kept it up in the fourth quarter as they ran away with the win, 76-61 over the Trojans. vs. Jenkins

It was another tough loss for the Lady Vikings as they fell 60-23 to the Lady War Eagles. The boys also lost their game, but they kept it close throughout. The Vikings dropped the game to the War Eagles, 68-65. vs. Dublin

In the girls game against the Irish, Treutlen had fallen behind 20-2 in the first and were trailing 49-6 at halftime. The Lady Irish went on to win the game 77-19. In the boys game the Vikings kept it close in the first half, but Dublin pulled away for the win. The Irish were up 17-16 at the end of the first, and then led 42– 37 at halftime. In the second half Dublin was on top 58-47 heading to the fourth, and they won the game 76-58.

This week the Treutlen boys played against the winner of the Hawkinsville vs. Johnson County game as part of the Region 4A Tournament. The Vikings played on Tuesday after presstime. If they win that game, they will play next on Wednesday against Wilcox County at 5:30 p.m. with the game being held at Wheeler County High School.
