Mrs. Mildred J. Payne, age 87, of East Dublin, died on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Serenity House in

Dublin. Mrs. Payne was born in Treutlen County, was educated in the Soperton School System, and moved to East Dublin. She worked at the Soperton Shirt Factory and later worked as a circuit board technician at Allen Bradley which became Rockwell Automation for approximately 13 years before retiring in 1998. She was a former member at the Blackville Church of God, then Forest Hills Church of God in East Dublin, and most recently was a member of New Covenant of Grace in Dublin. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, choir director, family training leader, assistant clerk and a prayer warrior. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Elmo and Clyde Evester Collins Jackson; her former husband, T.V. Brown, Jr.; 3 sons, Jacky Samuel Brown, Glynn Patrick Brown, and Glynn Gregory Brown; and 3 siblings, Dearl Jackson, Leron Jackson and Dorothy Brinson.

Survivors include her children, Sheila Greer, Dublin, Ted R. Brown Sr., Lexington, SC, Kay Scarborough ( Jimmy), Dublin, Greg Brown, Montrose, Ronnie Brown, East Dublin, Susan Knight (Raymond), Dexter, Jerrie Mayo, East Dublin, Teddy Brown, Orlando, FL, Angie Shortland (Terry), Dallas, GA, and Allison Lumley (Tim), East Dublin; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at New Covenant of Grace in Dublin, with her son-in-law, Pastor Tim Lumley officiating. Interment followed in Rosemont Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Eric Scarborough, Nathan Lumley, Ryan Harden, Nick Shortland, Daniel Shortland, Darrell Thigpen and Raymond Knight.

Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
