Ailey Man Killed in Wreck
A 24-year-old man from Ailey was killed in a one-vehicle rollover in Montgomery County on April 29. The Georgia State Patrol, which investigated, identified the victim as Bradley Wyman Helms. The GSP report said that Helms was driving east on Eddie Clyde Road shortly after 11 p.m. when the Polaris Ranger he was driving traveled across the roadway and struck an embankment. Evidence gathered at the scene indicated that Helms applied heavy breaking that caused his vehicle to skid continued from page
for 24 feet before hitting the embankment with its front end, overturning and ejecting him.
The right front roll bar of the vehicle landed on the driver’s upper torso and head and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Helms was the only occupant of the vehicle. The report noted that the victim’s brother and cousin located the wreck well after the crash occurred.
The GSP is still investigating the incident.
