Toombs Soccer Kicks Off

The Toombs County High School soccer teams have gotten their season underway as they took on the Tigers of Claxton and the Warriors of Tattnall County last week. The Lady Bulldogs split their games while the boys got wins in both of theirs.

Girls vs. Claxton

The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead in the game as they found the back of the net five times in the first half with Claxton scoring just one goal. In the second half TCHS added three more goals on their way to an 8-1 win over the Lady Tigers. TCHS was led by Gisselle Delgado with 4 goals. Breanna Phillips, Anyadi Colmenares, Rilyn Fitzgerald, and Anabel Cruz added 1 goal a piece.

Boys vs. Claxton

The Toombs boys also pulled away early on Claxton as they put three unanswered goals on the board in the first half of the game. In the second half Toombs added three more goals, while Claxton could score just twice. That gave Toombs the 6-2 victory.

TCHS was led by Carlos Sanchez with 3 goals, Marcos Zamorano added 2 goals, and Gustavo Delgado scored 1 goal.

Girls vs. Tattnall

The Lady Bulldogs lost their game to the Lady Warriors. Tattnall scored three times in the first half with Toombs managing just one goal. Tattnall added one more in the second half to win the game 4-1.

Boys vs. Tattnall

The boys game was a battle with Toombs coming out on top. Both teams scored one goal in the first half of the game, but the Bulldogs came through with one in the second half and held off the Warriors to get the 2-1 victory. This week the Bulldogs were at Bacon County for a Region matchup on Tuesday after presstime and will be back on the pitch on Friday when they host Woodville-Tompkins at 5:00 p.m. as they get into the Region stretch of their schedule.
