Indians Good Play Continues

It was a busy weekend on the hardwood for the Vidalia High School basketball teams as they hit the road Friday to face the Swainsboro Tigers before returning home Saturday to host Dodge County. The Indians boys had a perfect weekend, sweeping both contests, while the Lady Indians split their games, picking up a road win against Swainsboro but falling to Dodge County.

Girls vs. Swainsboro

The Lady Indians opened the action Friday with a tight 46-42 victory over the Lady Tigers. Vidalia established early momentum, jumping out to a 12-8 lead in the first period and holding a 23-18 advantage at halftime.

Swainsboro rallied in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to a single point at 31-30, but the Lady Indians maintained their composure in the final frame to secure the fourpoint win. Tori Polke paced the offense with 13 points, while Ze Rollins provided strong support with 12 points.

Boys vs. Swainsboro

In the nightcap, the Vidalia boys overcame a firsthalf deficit to defeat the Tigers 60-53. The Indians trailed 16-13 after the first quarter and went into the locker room down 29-26.

The momentum shifted in the third quarter as Vidalia’s offense came alive, turning the deficit into a 49-43 lead. They held off Swainsboro in the fourth to seal the victory. It was a balanced scoring effort for the Indians, led by Jerry Roundtree with 13 points. Brycen Burns added 12, DJ Wallace posted 11, and Rashad Brown chipped in with 10 points.

Girls vs. Dodge Co.

Returning to Vidalia on Saturday, the Lady Indians faced a tough matchup against Dodge County, falling 69-40. Dodge County controlled the game early, taking an 18-11 lead after one quarter and extending the margin to 40-27 by halftime. The visitors pulled away in the second half to hand Vidalia the loss.

Boys vs. Dodge Co.

The Indian boys capped off the weekend with a solid 59-47 win over Dodge County. Vidalia came out firing, building a 20-9 lead in the first quarter. Although Dodge County managed to cut into the lead in the second, Vidalia still held a 30-22 advantage at the break.

The Indians pulled away in the second half to secure their second win of the weekend. Rashad Brown led the way with 15 points, followed by Lyric McKennie with 11 and DJ Wallace with 10.

This week VHS was at Savannah Christian on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at home against Clacton at 6:00 p.m. and then will host Tattnall County on Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
