VHS Tennis Defeats Toombs

The Vidalia High School boys tennis team remains undefeated at 3-0 winning their second Region match of the season as they faced off with Toombs County last week. The boys won the match 5-0 over the Bulldogs.

Boys Caleb Beck was unable to play due to an illness, so Senior Danny Richardson stepped up to the 1st singles position and won convincingly 6-1, 6-0. Sophomore Larsen Carter at 2nd singles, Freshman Stone Smith at 3rd singles, and Seniors Sukumar Paidi and Jameson Rolen at 1st doubles all won 6-0, 6-0.

At 2nd doubles, junior Ryker Hutto and Freshman Cooper Mc-Callum won their first set in a tie-breaker 10-7 and the second set 6-1.

Girls

The Girls also won against Toombs by a score of 3-2. All wins came from the singles players. At 1st singles, Sophomore Laylah Brantley won 6-0, 6-0. Seniors Emma Beck at 2nd singles and Cate Wilcox at 3rd singles secured the match by winning 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0 respectively.

This win brings the Girls Region record to 1- 1.

This Tuesday, February 13, the teams traveled to Wrightsville to face the Johnson County Trojans in a nonregion match after presstime.
