Mrs. Joann “Gigi” Frost Henningsen ….
Mrs. Joann “Gigi” Frost Henningsen died on Sunday, March 27, 2022.
Mrs. Henningsen was born in Soperton at the local jail where her father was the sheriff. She grew up in Valdosta, was baptized at Morningside Baptist Church and attended Valdosta High School. She attended the University of Florida as a Physical Education major and was a band major. She lived in many states as well as in Turkey and Italy. While in Turkey, she was the owner and instructor of a dance studio. She helped military families and local schools with talent shows. While in Italy, she ran a successful Amway business and opened and operated two car dealerships. She also was the instructor of a fitness facility. She eventually returned to Valdosta, where she was a deputy sheriff for 20 years with the Lowndes County Jail. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Selma Frost.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Cynthia Thigpen, Sandra Yarborough, and Kelley McGowan; 5 grandchildren, James, Carson, Kasey, Savannah, and Bailey; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., in the Williams Chapel of Sammons Funeral Home. Interment followed in Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sammons Funeral Home in Soperton was in charge of arrangements.
