Wheeler Split Games

The Wheeler County High School softball team got two games in last week as they picked up a win over Montgomery County on Tuesday, but fell to Metter on Wednesday. vs. MCHS

It was a close game between the Bulldogs and the Eagles. Wheeler gave up seven runs in the game, but they held off MCHS and took the win, 9-7.

Wheeler was on the road on Thursday against Metter, and the Tigers had the Bulldogs' number in this game. Metter jumped out with four runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead.

Wheeler scored one in the top of the fourth inning, but two more from the Tigers in the bottom of the frame pushed their lead to 6-1. Both teams added two runs in the fifth inning, but the Tigers capped off the win with three in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the game by the run rule, 11-3.

The Bulldogs are now 6-5 on the season and are 5-4 in Region play. This week they hosted Treutlen on Tuesday after presstime. They will play again on Thursday at Hawkinsville at 5:30 p.m., and then on Saturday at home against the Panthers of Portal at 10:00 a.m.
