Vidalia City Schools Public Notice: Destruction of Special Education Records In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the State of Georgia Records Retention Schedules for Local Government Records, Vidalia City Schools hereby provides public notice of its intent to destroy special education records. Special education records that are no longer needed to provide educational services will be destroyed on or after May 22, 2026. This notice applies to records of students born between 2000 and 2001 who were previously served in special education programs within Vidalia City Schools. Former students or parents/ guardians of former students who wish to obtain copies of these records must submit a written request no later than May 22, 2026.
