In a challenging conference match held on September 27, the Brewton- Parker Christian University Lady Barons soccer team faced off against the Thomas University Night Hawks in Mount Vernon. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Barons fell to the Night Hawks with a final score of 6-1.

The match started intensely, with Thomas University taking an early lead. Maja Martinsson scored the first goal at 21:20 in the first half, setting the tone for the Night Hawks. The Barons held on defensively for the remainder of the first half, entering halftime with a minimal trailing score of 1-0.

The second half began with hopes of a comeback from the Barons, spurred by Christen Summey's goal at 48:39, keeping the Barons in the game. However, the equalization was short-lived as Thomas responded with a series of goals to extend their lead.

Head Coach Phillip Borde shared his thoughts on the performance, 'Thank God for the opportunity to play and coach in today's game. Today was one of those days we didn't have the legs in us to push through for 90 minutes. We went down 1-0 at halftime, brought the game back to life at 2-1. Then our legs failed us. Tactically, I take responsibility for the game getting away from us. This required more work than necessary for the players. They showed no quit, which is always a sign that a team is growing in their mentality. We will continue to grow on that strong point, which has been the case all year. We play two good teams next week at home, so we will definitely see what our group is made of. Thank God for the wins and losses.'

Looking forward, the Brewton-Parker Barons will aim to rectify today's outcomes in their next fixture. They are slated to face William Carey University on October 2, back in Mount Vernon, Ga. The Brewton-Parker team currently holds a record of 3-5 and 1-2 in conference.
