RTCA Wraps Up Regular Season
The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Crusaders baseball team wrapped up the regular season last week. They faced off with David Emanuel Academy and with Mount de Sales Academy, with the Crusaders falling in both games. RTCA finished the regular season with a record of 8-9, and they were 5-4 in Region play. vs. DEA
Against DEA, the Crusaders fell behind in the top of the second inning when the DEA Eagles scored two runs. DEA added two more runs in the top of the fifth inning to push their lead to 4-0. RTCA was not able to get any runs across as they had just one hit in the game, which came from Christian Mixon. vs. Mount de Sales
RTCA took on the Cavaliers on Thursday of last week. RTCA took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning off a ball hit by Brittan Tabor.
In the bottom of the second inning, the Cavaliers came back with three runs to jump into the lead over the Crusaders. They added another run in the third inning to push their lead to 4-1. RTCA picked up a run in the top of the fourth, but Mount de Sales answered in the bottom half to lead, 5-2.
RTCA plated two runs in the top of the fifth inning to close the lead to 5-4, and then took the lead in the sixth inning off a sacrifice fly by Tabor and an RBI single from Gage Brantley. But the Cavaliers got two more runs across in the bottom of the sixth to go back on top, 7-6.
Mount de Sales held in the top of the seventh inning to take the win by that score.
RTCA will now move into the GIAA State Playoffs. They will take on First Preparatory Christian Academy in the first round at home. They will play a double header on Friday starting at 2:00 p.m. If necessary, they will play a third game on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
