TCHS Defeats VHS In Ryder Cup

In a thrilling two-day showdown, the Toombs County men’s and women’s golf teams went headto- head with rival Vidalia High School in the second annual Toombs/Vidalia Ryder Cup. The matchplay format featured competitive, high-stakes golf from start to finish, highlighting the talent and determination of both programs.
The competition teed off Monday at the scenic Swainsboro Country Club with a new scramble format. The Dawgs battled evenly with the Indians, finishing the day in a 2.5– 2.5 tie. Standout performances included wins from Noah Anken and Vick Moore, as well as the pairing of Gavin and Rhys Ward. Charleigh McCoy and Anzley Bryant fought hard to earn a critical halfpoint by tying their match.
The action shifted to Brazell’s Creek on Tuesday for individual match play, where the Dawgs rose to the occasion. Toombs County captured 6 of the 10 available points, clinching the Ryder Cup with a final score of 8.5 to 6.5. Victories came from Anzley Bryant, Gavin Ward, Noah Anken, Rhys Ward, Clay Conner, and Vick Moore.
With the regular season winding down, the Bulldogs and the Indians took part in the Area Tournament on Monday of this week after presstime. The event was held at Double Oaks Golf Club in Commerce.
