Toombs County Native Luther Wardlaw has made a name for himself through his work as a singer, having written songs for the United Way of Toombs, Montgomery, and Wheeler Counties and the Toombs Strong Campaign; producer, helping to bring film and television opportunities in the region; and nonprofit work with youth and formerly incarcerated individuals. Yet, he is continuing to add to that resume, as he has announced the launch of a new faith-based, family- friendly streaming platform.
Lumina Television Network will feature inspirational films, documentaries, original programming, family-centered entertainment, children’s content, live events, faith-based teachings, and more. The platform is being developed as a place where families can watch meaningful content together without compromising their values. “I believe there is still a great need for content that brings families together, strengthens faith, and reminds people of hope,” said Wardlaw. “Lumina Television Network was created to be more than another streaming platform. It was created to be a light.” He emphasized that Lumina Television Network is not only a business venture, but a mission, whose goal is to build a platform that uplifts families, supports positive storytelling, and creates space for faith-centered voices in media. “For years, I have prayed about how to use media in a way that serves people,” he shared. “Music, film, television, and storytelling all have the power to shape hearts. Lumina is my way of helping place more light into the world.”
The network is already gaining attention through partnerships and community support, with Wardlaw hoping that families, churches, organizations, and supporters across the country will join the launch. “This is a proud moment for our community,” he commented. “I want people to know that great things can come from small towns. We can build, create, lead, and inspire from right here at home. Lumina Television Network is launching nationally, but its heart will always be connected to the people and places that helped shape me.”
The first media to be featured on the Network is “Be Still & Know: The Polly Sheppard Story,” which recounts the story of one of the five survivors of the 2015 Charleston Church Shooting at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. Church. Sheppard was the only survivor the gunman spoke to directly when he told her, “I’m going to let you live to tell the story.”
The documentary shares a moving story of faith, tragedy, survival, forgiveness, healing, and strength, and will released on June 17, the anniversary of the tragic shooting.
“This story is sacred,” Wardlaw remarked. “Mrs. Polly Sheppard’s life is a testimony of strength, grace, and forgiveness. What was meant to divide a nation can now become a moment that brings people together.”
Lumina Television Network will launch on Wednesday, June 17, and is available on Roku, Fire TV, Samsung, Apple, Google Play, and LG. For more information, visit www.luminanetwork. tv.
