located behind Toombs County High School, will expand the current space for the Construction, Heavy Equipment Operations, and Engineering Pathways, as it features several classrooms and hands-on learning laboratories. By moving these programs into the new building, the district will open up more space for the Performing Arts/Chorus Pathway, Audio Video Technology Pathway, and ESports teams, which will now each have their own spaces.
The new construction is a $4.5 million investment, and is being funded through General Obligation Bonds, which were approved by the community through a referendum, issued in February, and will be repaid through funds from the Education Special Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) revenues.
Superintendent Barry Waller commented on the project. “We are excited about the continued growth, opportunity, and innovation in our district with the expansion projects at Toombs County High School that will provide much-needed space for the recently added new pathways for our students,” he remarked. “I want to thank our school board for their unwavering support and their focus on giving our students the best facilities and opportunities in the area. We are blessed to be able to do our part in preparing our students to be productive citizens in our community.'
Toombs County High School Principal Marissa Morris added, “The new CTAE facility is an investment in our students, expanding access to high-quality Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education programs that develop workforce- ready skills, industry credentials, and pathways to success beyond graduation. This facility will empower students to discover their passions, prepare for meaningful careers, and create a lasting legacy through the impact they make on our community and future generations of Bulldogs.”
The new facility is expected to be completed in mid-October, and administrators are hoping that students will be able to begin using the facility after Fall Break.
