Vikings In Region Tourney

It was a grueling week on the pitch for the Treutlen County High School Vikings, with both the boys and girls soccer teams navigating a crowded Region Tournament schedule. Each squad pushed through three games, ultimately seeing the Lady Vikings capture third place while the boys secured a fourth-place finish.

Girls vs. Wheeler Co.

The Lady Vikings opened the tournament with a commanding 5-0 shutout against the Wheeler County Lady Bulldogs.

Girls vs. MCHS

The momentum hit a snag in the second round during a gritty, defensive battle against Montgomery County. The Lady Eagles managed the lone score of the contest, handing Treutlen a narrow 1-0 defeat.

Girls vs. Dooly Co.

Rebounding in the consolation matchup, the Lady Vikings proved resilient against Dooly County. Natalie Meeks and Maya Brinson both found the back of the net, lifting Treutlen to a 2-0 shutout over the Lady Bobcats to seal their third-place finish.

Boys vs. Hawkinsville

On the boys' side, the Vikings started strong against Hawkinsville. After taking a 1-0 lead into the break, Treutlen traded second- half goals with the Red Devils to secure a 2-1 victory. Joseph Meza-Avila was the offensive engine for the matchup, accounting for both of the Vikings' goals.

Boys vs. Dooly Co.

The second round proved much tougher, as a potent Dooly County squad overpowered Treutlen. The Bobcats built a 6-0 halftime lead before adding four more down the stretch to take a 10-0 win.

Boys vs. MCHS

In their consolation game against Montgomery County, the Vikings fought hard to bounce back. Treutlen struck for a firsthalf goal, but the Eagles answered twice before the break to take a 2-1 halftime lead. Montgomery County then added an insurance goal in the second half to close out a 3-1 win over the Vikings.

Following the tournament run, the Lady Vikings sit at a solid 10-5 overall with a 4-2 mark in Region play. The boys hold a 3-11 overall record and are 2-4 in the Region. Both teams now have a hard-earned two weeks off to rest and regroup before getting back into action.
