Coming off of a second place victory two weeks ago, Vidalia's Pride girls softball travel team scored top honors in Cordele at the Heartbreak Ridge United States Specialty Sports Association tournament this past weekend. Coach Travis Blewtt said the girls lost their first game but rallied to win 5 consecutive games including the championship. According to Coach Blewett, 'Our girls didn't play well in the first game, they were just going through the motions, but after some motivation from me and Coach Sharpton, they came alive and finished strong, very strong' In bracket play the girls went 3-0 knocking out the Backwoods Ballers, 14- zip, they went 15-zip over the Southern Smoke team and in the championship game Pride overtook Cage Extreme 10-3. As a team, the girls batted .439 for the day which is quite a feat, according to Coach Blewett. Three outstanding players, Kendall Ledford, Britley Sharpton and Tenley Blewett were chosen Most Valuable Players for the tournament. The Pride team will play next in Dublin in the Green Diamond tournament on March 14.
