Montgomery County High School (MCHS) will spread Christmas cheer on Friday, December 19, as the Senior Beta Club hosts a Christmas Market in the continued from page

school’s lunchroom. Montgomery County Schools takes pride in celebrating the most wonderful time of the year with the community. The district kicked off the season on December 2 with the annual Pajama-Rama, an event where elementary school students and families of children are invited to wear their favorite Christmas pajamas to Montgomery County Elementary School to enjoy a Christmas song sing-along, visit from Santa and the Grinch, and making Christmas crafts. The school system will continue to celebrate the upcoming holiday with the upcoming Christmas Market.

Montgomery County High Scholl Senior Beta Club Sponsors Kerri Anderson and Payton Spell commented on the event, as they emphasized that the Club is hoping this event will become another Christmas tradition for the school. The duo said that the idea for the market came from the Club members desiring to celebrate Christmas and give back to those in need while also preparing for their trip to Senior Beta Club National Convention this summer.

“We were wanting to find a way to bring the community together one last time before Christmas, gather donations for families in need, and start raising money to help get our members to the national convention this summer,” Anderson remarked.

The market will feature a photo area for children to take pictures with Santa from 6:15 p.m. until 6:50 p.m. Christmas music will fill the air during this time, and concessions – such as hot chocolate, popcorn, and other sweet treats – will be sold inside of the market for $1 each. Several Christmas crafts will be available for kids to complete throughout this time.

After 6:50 p.m., the Market will turn into a movie theatre, as the Club hosts a community showing of The Polar Express.

Admission to the event costs $2 per person; small toy donations will also be accepted as admission. These toys will be donated to local foster families to ensure that every child has a gift on Christmas morning.

This event is open to the public of all ages. For more information, call (912) 583-2301.
