A SUCCESSFUL CLOVERLEAF DPA – Numerous Toombs County 4-H students participated in the recent Cloverleaf District Project Achievement (DPA) event, where they studied topics, and prepared and presented short speeches.

Toombs County 4-H recently hosted the 2025 Fall Cloverleaf Southeast District Project Achievement. Nearly 250 4-H members in the 4th – 6th grades from twelve Southeast District counties attended the event. Forty-six members from Toombs County 4-H participated in the contest. Earning Toombs County 1st place in Highest Number of Participants.

According to Toombs County 4-H Agent Riley Wimberly, “District Project Achievement or DPA, offers youth their first experience in public speaking. To compete, 4-H members select a project area and narrow their interest to a specific topic. Members then prepare and give a 4 – 6-minute demonstration about their topic.”

Participants from Toombs County 4-H are listed by school.

Twenty-one students from Lyons Upper Elementary School participated in DPA. 1st place winners were Kyleigh Beaver (Arts), Dani Ingram (Earth and Space Science), Cameron Alverez (General Recreation), Lincoln Antunez (Human Development), Mia Powell (Outdoor Recreation), Naomi Young (Paleontology), and Gemma Grace Kersey (Physical Science). 2nd place winners included Braelynn Dowdy (Communication), Denitra Legrant (Earth and Space Science), Skylar Tozer (Environmental Science), McKynlie Adams (Health), and Kairi Futch (Wildlife). Clay Roberts (Outdoor Recreation) won 3rd place. Receiving 4th place in the competition were A’Marie Miller (Arts), Bailey Dickson (Cat Care), Christiani Badie (Communications), Payson Wickstrom (General Recreation), Destiny Ruan (Sports – Individual), Brylee Kilgore (Sports – Team), Maddie Copeland (Sports – Team) and Eryc Bobbitt (Sports-Team).

Robert Toombs Christian Academy had seven participants. Easton Moore (Historic Places and Events), Chesney Monroe (Entomology), Romeo Paez (Safety), and Laylee Sellers (Ag Awareness) earned 1st place. Lily Cole (General Recreation), Charli Monroe (Herpetology), and Lana Kate Sellers (Marine and Coastal Ecology) placed 2nd.

Sally Meadows Elementary School had three participants. Earning 1st place was Brinley Lowery (Clothing and Textiles) and Wyatt Shirley (Plants, Soils, and Fertilizers). Keela Brown (Crafts) placed 3rd.

Toombs County Middle School had ten participants. 1st place winners included Natalie Bell (Sports – Individual), Mackenzie Phelps (Earth and Space Science), Jai Pfiffer (Fruits, Nuts, and Vegetables), Waylon Mc-Gowen (Life Science), and Mayleigh Wilcher (Marine and Coastal Ecology). 2nd place winners included Liam Patel) Historic Places and Events) and Cristian Ramos (Human Development). Receiving 3rd place were Cayden Branham (Historic Places and Events), Brayden Welch (Outdoor Recreation), and Raegan Sims (Workforce Preparation). Payton McClain (Historic Places and Events) received 4th place.

Toombs Central Elementary School had four participants. Mckenna Cunningham (Marine and Coastal Ecology) received 3rd place. Raegan Harvill (Dog Care and Training), Gunner Rountree (Marine and Coastal Ecology), and Emsley Copeland (Sports – Individual) placed 4th.

The event was a huge success thanks to a host of volunteers and teen leaders who assisted with the event. The Toombs County 4-H program who is under the direction of 4-H Agent Riley Wimberly, 4-H Educator Brianna Helms, and 4-H AmeriCorps Member Carol Hester. Toombs County Agriculture Agent and County Coordinator Jason Edenfield also cocoordinated the event.
