Barons Take Down Bears

Brewton-Parker Christian University men’s wrestling team faced off against the Truett McConnell Bears in a thrilling conference dual on January 8. The Barons clawed out a tough victory of 26-25 over the Bears to kick off the second half of their season with a win in the new year.

The Barons saw standout performances from multiple wrestlers, including a major decision win from Kullum Irvin in the 141 lbs showdown. His teammate Blake Walker followed the decision victory up with a fall victory over his opponent in the 149 lbs matchup. The Barons had two technical falls from Sean Houston in 174 lbs and #9 Zahquel Davis in 184 lbs. Davis' win will ensure he remains ranked nationally in his weight class. The Barons had one more victory on the day to seal their win with a thrilling six-point fall win from Brandon Lively in the 197 lbs thriller.

The Barons return to action on the road, taking on two conference opponents in Florida. Their first road dual will be with Keriser University on January 15, 2026, before traveling to take on Southeastern University on January 16, in thrilling Appalachian Athletic Conference clashes.
