Soperton Resident Gifts City a USA 250th Birthday Banner

Longtime Soperton resident Murray Barwick presented Mayor John Koon and the City Council with a custom 250th birthday banner. Barwick, a retired local postal worker, had the custom banner designed, and it features the years 1776–2026 with pictures of the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, and the American Bald Eagle with the American Flag background.

'I wanted to do something special for our town for this once-in-a-lifetime event.” Barwick said. 'The two-and-a-half-century mark reminds us of our nation’s history and the strength of our country.' Mayor Koon and the City Council accepted the gift on behalf of the city, and Mayor Koon stated, 'I am honored to recognize and thank Murray Barwick for his generous gift of a commemorative banner in celebration of America’s 250th year. This thoughtful gesture is a testament to Murray's civic pride and his commitment to our community.”
