MoCo Library Announces July Activity Schedule

The Montgomery County Public Library has scheduled a month full of fun and excitement for patrons of all ages throughout July, as the Library recently announced their monthly schedule.

Throughout July, patrons can attempt to steal an inflatable Pokemon from the library without being caught by the librarian; to win the challenge, participants must make it outside of the building with the Pokemon. After making it outside, the participants should bring the Pokemon back into the library and show the librarian, as they will be recognized online for winning the challenge and will receive a prize.

Patrons of all ages can enjoy a time of Coffee and Coloring with Legos at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1. The library will also host the Southeastern Reptile Rescue at 5 p.m. on July 1, as experts show off various reptiles and teach attendees about the creatures.

On Thursday, July 2, patrons can come to create Independence Day Crafts throughout the day, kids can make a straw rocket at 2 p.m., and teenagers can create a patriotic door hanger at 4 p.m.

The library will be closed on Saturday, July 4, in observation of Independence Day.

Adults will meet for Junk Journaling at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 6.

Children, ages birth through five, can enjoy a time of Books and Bubbles at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, as they read A Unicorn, Dinosaur, and Shark Walk Into A Book. Later that day, at 4 p.m., kids will enjoy reading The Good Dinosaur, and will create a craft inspired by the book during Crafty Tales.

Patrons of all ages can come play Bingo at the library at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, while adults can show off their creativity with Spin Art at 4:30 p.m.

The Kids Craft Club will make a Beaver Bot Dinosaur at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 9.

Families can compete in the Family Card Game Day at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.

The Library’s youngest patrons – children from birth through 5 years-old – will enjoy a time of playing with Bubbles and Chalk at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 13.

Kids can paint a treasure box at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14.

Patrons of all ages can enjoy a time of Coffee and Coloring with Legos at 10:30 a.m. and the Library’s Board of Directors will meet at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15.

Adults will meet for Junk Journaling at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 16.

Patrons of all ages can make a Sun Visor Craft at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18.

On Monday, July 20, children – from birth through age 5 – will enjoy a time of Books and Bubbles at 3 p.m., as they read Pete the Cat Screams for Ice Cream, and kids will read Don’t Trust the Fish and make a craft during Crafty Tales at 4 p.m. Patrons of all ages can show off their creativity, as they paint a lighthouse at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21.

The library will host bingo for all ages at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22. Later that day, the Altamaha Beekeepers Association will teach community members about bees and apiary work at 3 p.m.

Kids can create their own Minecraft Self Portraits at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 23.

On Saturday, July 25, kids can come make a Sun Catcher Craft at 11 a.m.

Adults will meet for Junk Journaling at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 27.

Kids can build their own boats during a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) activity at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.

The library will celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Program with a Dinosaur Safari Party from 3 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29. Winners for the library’s Dinosaur Contest will be announced during the Party.

Teenagers can make their own Footprint in the Sand craft at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 30.

The library, located at 215 S. Railroad Avenue in Mount Vernon, is open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, but is closed on Sunday and Friday.
