Treutlen Graduates Recognized for Academic Excellence

Members of the Treutlen High School Class of 2026 were recently recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the Senior Honors Night on Thursday, May 14.

Earlier this year, Elizabeth Edge was named the Class’s valedictorian and Alexander Sammons was named the Class’s salutatorian, while 14 students – Camdyn Brantley, Desirae Bright, Mary Claire Corbett, Ze’niah Griffin, Cloey Hutcheson, Ashley Lumpkin, Lauryn McArthur, Kavion Peebles, Za’Niah Richards, Carter Robertson, Jaliyah Strickland, Marley Strickland, Takyla Wadley, and Dallas Wheeler – were announced as honor graduates. These students were honored during Thursday night’s ceremony for their accomplishments.

In addition to this, several graduates were also presented with scholarships to help fund the continuation of their education.

Lauryn McArthur took home four scholarships, as she received the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Pauldo-Smith Scholarship, Tri-County Family Connection Scholarship, American Legion #0059 Scholarship, and the Dublin-Laurens Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Scholarship. Takyla Wadley also walked away with four scholarships, as she was presented the Cartell McLendon Memorial Scholarship, Unique Community Women’s Scholarship, Mt. Zion Baptist Church Scholarship, and Meadows Health Auxiliary Scholarship for Higher Education.

Marley Strickland accepted three scholarships – the American Legion #0059 Scholarship, Treutlen Retired Educators Scholarship, and Montgomery County Enrichment Association Scholarship.

Desirae Bright and Bailey Edge were each presented with the Harmony Masonic Lodge Scholarship, while Za’Niah Richards received the Lions Club Scholarship, Alexander Sammons accepted the Woodmen Life Scholarship, and Jazzlyn Jones took home the Jaliyah Jackson Scholarship.

Mary Claire Corbett was selected by her fellow classmates and teachers as the recipient of this year’s Charles E. Ellington Sr. Scholarship.

The Treutlen High School Class of 2026 became Viking Alumni on Sunday, May 17, as they turned the tassel and officially graduated from high school.
