the week. Happy Helpings is Georgia’s Summer Food Service Program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and administered by Department of Early Care and Learning Nutrition Services Division. The program helps provide nutritious food to children during the summer months when school cafeterias are closed because food insecurity intensifies during the summer, when children have no access to regular school meals.
All children ages 18 and under may participate free of charge with no income verification, registration, or paperwork required. Adults over the age of 19 with qualifying mental or physical disabilities may also participate.
Families may also still visit any other approved summer feeding sites in the area if needed, as participation in this program does not interfere with other summer meal services.
The Black Lotus Project Inc. will help to provide meals to all children without charge. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. There will be no discrimination in the course of meal service.
The library hopes that this program will help the community and students to continue to thrive, even while taking a break from their normal school routines. For more information, call (912) 568-7321.
