Mimbs Celebrated for Work with Department of Exceptional Learners

Speech Pathologist Jessica Mimbs was recently presented with the 2027 Exceptional Student Service Educator of the Year (ESS) by Montgomery County Schools administrators.
For seven years, Mimbs has provided speech services for students at Montgomery County Elementary School. She said that receiving the honor was extra special, as it was her colleagues who selected her for the award. “I am very honored to win this award. It means a great deal to be recognized by your colleagues,” she remarked. “I would like to thank the administration and staff of Montgomery County Schools, my husband, and my parents.”
When asked what continues to inspire her to work in special education, Mimbs replied, “The students are my inspiration. They remind me daily that we can do hard things. It is fulfilling to watch them grow as I work with them throughout their years at the elementary school and beyond.”
Mimbs said she looks forward to continuing to work to help students find their voices and communicate more efficiently with others.
