Two Memorial Health Meadows Hospital nursing units were recognized nationally for their excellence in patient care during the annual HCA Unit of Distinction Awards on April 14.

This year’s Awards marked “A Decade of Distinction” as the program has recognized the top nursing units in HCA Healthcare, which has a network of over 100,000 nurses around the country. The Unit of Distinction Award honors top-performing nursing units for excellence in advocacy and leadership, consistency in nursing practice and operations, and leveraging scale to improve patient care.

“Nursing excellence is most visible at the bedside, where our nurses deliver compassionate, highquality care to patients and their families every day,” remarked HCA Healthcare Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive Erica Rossitto. “The Unit of Distinction program recognizes the top-performing nursing units at HCA Healthcare that exemplify this commitment and set a strong standard for care across our organization.”

The Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Women’s Services Unit – led by Director Heather Hooks – was awarded the overall Unit of Distinction winner, meaning it not only stood out among other women’s services units, but out of all units. The Women’s Services team was championed for their outstanding performance and strong commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care for mothers and babies throughout the region.

The Memorial Health Meadows Hospital Same Day Surgery Unit – left by Director of Surgery Jennifer Wolfe – was recognized as a Unit of Distinction winner in the Surgical Services category, meaning it was among the best surgical services units in the nation. The accolade came as HCA Healthcare celebrated the unity’s focus on efficiency, patient experience, and high quality surgical care.

“At Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, this recognition reflects the dedication, compassion and clinical excellence our nursing teams bring to every patient, every day,” said Chief Nursing Officer Kris Cuthair. “Our Women’s Services and Same Day Surgery teams exemplify what it means to deliver exceptional care while supporting one another and our community. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to excellence.”

These units’ accolades were among 193 other awards announced during a ceremony broadcast from the HCA Healthcare Headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, on April 14.
