Indians Bust Through Barrier in Brunswick

The Vidalia High School Indian cross country teams traveled to Brunswick on Thursday, October 16, to compete in the challenging Run the Plank Cross Country Meet. With 14 runners representing the team, the meet proved to be a breakthrough event as 10 athletes recorded personal best times, showcasing their dedication and growth this season.
Girls
The Lady Indians were led by a standout performance from Judith Hussey, who ran an exceptional race, finishing 12th with a strong time of 21:29. Emilynn Campbell also made a significant breakthrough by breaking the 23-minute barrier for the first time, finishing 15th with a time of 22:44. Contributing to the team's solid showing were Cannon Sharpton, Dayanna Onate, Giselle Garcia, Stella Siegmund, and Sadie Siegmund, all of whom posted notable results and helped bolster the team's overall effort.
Boys
On the boys’ side, Cash Driggers was absolutely on fire, blasting under the 17-minute barrier for the first time with an impressive time of 16:41. He led the entire field from start to finish, clinching first place in a commanding performance. Simon Collins ran a strong race to place 6th with a time of 17:29, while Greg Taylor and Wyatt Vassey finished closely behind in 12th and 13th place with times of 17:43 and 17:44, respectively. Marvin Onate had another exceptional race as he rounded out the top 5 on the team. All seven boys runners clocked personal bests, a testament to their hard work and progress throughout the season. Their combined effort earned the boys a welldeserved 2nd place team finish.
Overall, the Indians showed remarkable progress at the Run the Plank meet, with many athletes shattering previous records and demonstrating the strength and depth of the program. The team looks forward to building on this momentum as they approach the Region/ Sectional meet in Jeff Davis on November 1.
