Four Qualify to Run for Wheeler Tax Commissioner

Four citizens have qualified to seek the Wheeler County Tax Commissioner’s post recently vacated by Kim Clark. Ryan Dixon is serving as interim Tax Commissioner until a special election is held on June 17. Qualifiers are Bradley Davis, logger; Whitney Clark Griffin, medical assistant; Curtis Hay, project manager; and Dr. Marvin Howard, mortician.

The special election will be held June 17, 7 a.m. until 7 p.m., with a runoff scheduled for July 15 if no candidate achieves a majority of the total vote.

June 6, last day to apply for an absentee ballot Candidates will be listed on one ballot in alphabetical order, along with their party affiliations. The special election will also accommodate the statewide election for Public Service Commission Posts 2 and 3.

The Wheeler County Registrar’s Office is located at 16 W. Forest Avenue, Suite 101 in Alamo. Persons registered in Alamo will vote there; however, persons registered in Glenwood will vote at the Glenwood Civic Center at 96 NW 3rd Avenue in Glenwood.
