The Barons of Brewton- Parker College hosted the Knights of Middle Georgia State University in a thrilling doubleheader on April 01. The Barons managed to walk off game one in the bottom of the seventh to win 11-10. Unfortunately, the Barons ran out of juice before game two and lost the second game, 20-1.
Game one saw several Barons' players lead the team. Kennard Dawson and Zack Carlton led the charge, scoring two vital runs each. They were supported by Carson Kirby, Orlando Perez, Raul Morales, Elijah Baptist, and Kendell Wade, who all contributed to the scoreboard. Kirby, alongside Marquette Gibson, Kennard Dawson, Jeremi Lara, Elijah Baptist, Zack Carlton, and J. Reid Phillips, also played crucial roles in driving in runs, adding depth to the team's offensive strategy.
Starting pitcher Bryce Morley took the mound for the Barons, putting forth a resilient effort to hold off the strong Knights' lineup, but the Barons' bullpen kept them in the game. Shaun Carlos Munoz came out of the pen in the sixth and got the win, moving him to 3-2 on the year. The Barons hoped to maintain their hot bats into game two but could not keep up with the Knights' offense.
Game two saw the Barons struggle on both offense and defense. The Barons' only score came from Dylan Speakman. Starting pitcher Grant Cochran took the mound for the Barons, but the Knights' offensive firepower proved overwhelming for him and the bullpen, who saw seven different pitchers on the mound in game two.
With their results, Brewton-Parker's season record now stands at 1122.
