It was another beautiful, sunny day at the Reservation as the Vidalia High School Indians tennis teams faced off against the Tattnall County Warriors. Both teams brought their best, but the Indians came out on top with commanding 4-1 victories for both the boys and girls.

Girls

For the Lady Indians, Laylah Brantley set the tone at #1 singles with a hard-fought 6-4, 7-5 win. Hannah Nichols battled at #2 singles, pushing her match into a tiebreaker but ultimately falling short. Elizabeth Sowell, playing at #3 singles, showcased her determination, winning a three-set thriller 6-3, 6-7, 10-6. In doubles play, Dedria Boston and Sadie Berry delivered a decisive 6-2, 6-4 victory at #1 doubles, while Analyn Helms and Isabella Royal pulled off a nailbiting win at #2 doubles, closing it out 6-2, 6-7, 1210.

Boys On the boys’ side, Caleb Beck dominated at #1 singles, cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Larson Carter followed with a solid 6-4, 6-4 win at #2 singles, while Stone Smith secured a 6-2, 6-3 victory at #3 singles. In doubles, Kingston Schwyzer and Ryker Hyers fought hard but fell 2-6, 4-6 at #1 doubles. However, Sam Varn and Cooper McCallum sealed the team win with a gritty 6-4, 2-6, 10-3 victory at #2 doubles.

Coaches Gillies and McLeod were thrilled with the team’s performance, noting their improved mental toughness and perseverance in close matches. The Indians continue to build momentum as they push forward in their season.
