In a thrilling series at Blue Mountain, Mississippi, the Brewton-Parker College Barons baseball team fell short against the Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers in a tightly contested conference game on March 1. The final scoreboard read 13-11 in favor of the Toppers, despite a valiant effort from the Barons, who showcased resilience and strategic prowess throughout the game.

The Barons, led by starting pitcher Robin Haven, entered the game with determination. Still, the Toppers seized a critical opportunity, scoring five runs in the 8th inning that ultimately clinched their victory. Key players for Brewton-Parker included Carson Kirby, Marquette Gibson, and Zach Carlton, who each made significant contributions. Kirby went 3-for-6 at-bat, while Carlton's impressive 4-for-5, including 2 RBIs and scoring twice, highlighted his outstanding performance. Gibson scored twice and notched up 3 RBIs, showcasing his critical role in the team's offensive efforts.

Head Coach Aaron Larsen reflected on the team's play, 'We put ourselves in a deficit early, and the guys showed a lot of resiliency battling back again. We put ourselves in a position to win the game late with a lead, but we couldn't close the door. We have a really good team in Tennessee. Wesleyan is coming to town this week and we will focus on getting ready for them,' Larsen focused on his team's ability to stay in games despite falling behind early. The Barons look to improve and take control of games earlier.

Looking ahead, Brewton- Parker aims to rebound in their next game against Tennessee Wesleyan University, set to take place in Mount Vernon on March 4, 2025. With a current season record of 9-7, the Barons are eager to capitalize on the forthcoming opportunities to improve their standings. Fans and students of Brewton- Parker are encouraged to mark their calendars and support their team as they continue to battle through the season, demonstrating the spirit and passion that define Brewton- Parker baseball.
