BRIEF BUT VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM WREAKS HAVOC ON MOSLEY STREET - Mother nature continues to rain down her wrath on Vidalia in a followup to the recent tropical storm Debby that hit our area. In town several huge trees were toppled taking with them electrical power poles and lines on Mosley Street. The damage occurred around 8:30 pm Sunday when a brief but strong thunderstorm packing high winds knocked down the mammoth trees. Residents were without power for a while but approximately seven Georgia Power crews and tree removal services were on scene to remove the trees, repair damaged poles and lines and restore electrical service to the residents. INFORMING THE COMMUNITY – State Representatives Shaw Blackmon, Jaclyn Ford, Leo Chancey, and Leesa Hagan spoke to the community about rural development during an event on Thursday, June 18.
REMOVING A HAZARD – Because of the deterioration and damage of the old Montgomery County Middle School building, which is located behind the Montgomery County Board of Education, the structure will be demolished in the coming month.
