Lyons 2nd In 12u Girls District

The Lyons Recreation Department's 12u Girls All-Star team played in the GRPA District 1 Tournament last week in Effingham County, and came away as the District Runner- up. The girls will now move on to the State Tournament, which is being played this week. Vidalia took third place in District, but only the top two teams advance to State.

LRD vs. Emanuel County It was a tough start to the tournament for Lyons as they took on Emanuel County. Emanuel took the win over Lyons, 14-5, to send LRD into the losers' bracket.

VRD vs. Rincon

Vidalia rolled to a win in their first game as they defeated Rincon 17-0. That moved Vidalia into the semifinals of the winners' bracket against Emanuel County.

Lyons bounced back with a big win over Rincon in the losers' bracket. Lyons took the game 17-2 to keep moving forward.

VRD vs. Emanuel County Vidalia kept it close with Emanuel, but fell just short as they lost the game by just one run. Vidalia was beaten 6-5, sending them into the losers' bracket.

That set up a matchup between the cross-county rivals. In this game, it was Lyons that came out on top as they won over Vidalia 8-4. That ended the run for Vidalia, and sent Lyons into the Championship Game against Emanuel County.

LRD vs. Emanuel County Championship It was all Emanuel in the Championship as they cruised to a 9-0 win over Lyons to claim the title.

Lyons will now play in the State Tournament this week in Douglas. Lyons' first game was on Tuesday against Worth County. If Lyons makes it to the Championship, that will be held on Thursday at 11: 45 a.m.
