The Vidalia Housing Authority has named Tyler Salter as its new executive director to fill the recentlyvacated position.

Since 2010, the Vidalia Housing Authority has been led by Josh Beck, who resigned from the position last month to become the Vidalia City Manager. Upon Beck’s resignation, the Authority has worked tirelessly to find a new director that could bring the same expertise and improvement to the agency that Beck had accomplished, and agreed upon hiring Salter last week.

Salter is a lifelong Toombs County resident and a Toombs County High School graduate. He studied business administration at Georgia Southern University, and currently holds a real estate license and multiple insurance licenses. Most recently, Salter served as the president and chief executive officer of the Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce and Development Authority, where he demonstrated leadership skills and dedication to economic and community development.

It is this experience, coupled with his commitment to serving his local community, which the Authority cited as the reason for its decision. The Authority members also shared that they feel his leadership will bring “renewed energy and vision to the organization, ensuring that it meets the housing needs of Vidalia’s citizens effectively and compassionately.”

Salter commented on this new endeavor, as he remarked, “I am honored to join the Vidalia Housing Authority and look forward to working alongside the Board of Commissioners and dedicated staff. Together, we will continue to work diligently to provide safe, decent, and affordable public housing for the citizens of Vidalia. I am grateful for the support and guidance I have already received from the previous director, Joshua Beck, and I look forward to collaborating with him in his new role to continue supporting the City of Vidalia.”

The new director will officially enter the office on Monday, June 17, as he begins overseeing the planning, directing, and management of the Authority’s activities and operations.
