The Toombs County Grand Jury has indicted eight individuals on murder charges for three shootings in the county in the last year.

Dalton Wayne Holcombe and Tyquan Tyhee Toby were both formally indicted for their involvement in the murder of Brandon Keyshawn Green, 23, of Hazelhurst.

On December 8, 2023, Green was discovered with a gunshot wound to the neck on 352 East Grady Street in Lyons and was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. During the investigation, authorities discovered that both Holcombe and Toby had shot at Green and Cassandra Hester; yet, the shots fatally wounded Green. Holcombe was arrested and charged with the murder on January 2, while Toby was not captured until January 24.

Both men now face formal charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault (two continued from page

counts), and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Toby also faces an additional charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Also listed in the indictments was Joshawn Davantae Troupe, who is charged with the death of Savahna Chamblee,18, of Soperton.

On December 19, 2023, Chamblee was driven by a private vehicle to the Memorial Health Meadows Hospital with a single gunshot wound. The hospital alerted law enforcement and an investigation was promptly launched. Chamblee was later flown to Savannah because of her critical condition where she succumbed to her injuries. Troupe was arrested by the Vidalia Police Department for the murder on March 27.

Troupe is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and criminal damage to property in the first degree.

Five men were indicted for their involvement in the triple murder of Justin Javeon Gaffney, Iesha Wicker, and Wicker’s unborn child, which occurred on March 16.

At 5:02 p.m. on March 16, the Vidalia Police Department responded to a report of shots fired near the intersection of East Jenkins and Epstein Street. When officers arrived, they found that Godfrey, 23, and Wicker, 18, both of Soperton, had been shot. Others at the scene drove the victims to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital where the victims died from their injuries.

Kison King, Patrick Cornelius Hunt, and Jaquan Jordan were arrested for the murders on March 21, while Michael Anthony, Jr. and Fitzroy Ellis were taken into custody for the crime on April 13. The men each face charges for malice murder (two counts), feticide, felony murder (two counts), and aggravated assault (two counts). Hunt and Jordan face an additional charge each for possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer.

Additional indictments included: Joshua James Dyal – making a false statement Michael Jason Dixon – aggravated stalking James Marvin O’Neal – aggravated assault Daniel Silas Walker – possession of a firearm by a convicted felon Kelly Jean Titus – possession of a schedule II controlled substance (two counts); cruelty to children in the second degree Clifford Lee Tolbert – criminal attempt to commit a felony (two counts); obstruction of an officer Nicholas Devon Phillips – possession of cocaine Devon Blade Meeks – hijacking a motor vehicle Devonta Leshon Baker – possession of methamphetamine Joseph Michael Partin – theft by taking; burglary in the first degree Anthony Kyle Tarver – entering an automobile; criminal attempt to commit a felony Eddie Leeshon Beasley – terroristic threats Justin Ryan Taylor and Margaret Helen Barr – violation of the RICO Act These individuals will now enter the formal court process of entering a plea, which will determine their next steps in the judicial system.
