RTCA Wins Over CCA

The Crusader baseball team of Robert Toombs Christian Academy wrapped up their regular season last week. They dropped a game to Frederica Academy on Tuesday, but bounced back with a win over Citizens Christian on Wednesday. They will now prepare for the GIAA State Playoffs which kickoff this Friday. vs. Frederica

RTCA took the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Gage Brantley. But in the bottom of the frame, the Knights plated two runs to take the lead, 2-1. the Knights picked up a run in the second inning, and then one more in the third to push their lead to 4-1.

RTCA scored a run in the top of the fifth inning, but Frederica answered with one in the bottom of the frame. The Knights then put five more runs on the board in the sixth inning on the way to a 10-3 win over the Crusaders. vs. CCA

RTCA took the lead in the top of the second inning when they loaded the bases, and then two Crusaders were walked to give them a 2-0 lead. CCA closed the lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the second inning. In the top of the fifth, RTCA broke the game open with six runs. RBI hits came from Banks Hopkins, Brody Randall, Tripp Durden, and Brantley. That pushed the RTCA lead to 8-1. CCA scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth, but that was all they could get as RTCA won the game, 8-3.

This week RTCA will take on First Presbyterian Christian Academy on Friday in the first round of the State Playoffs. The first game of the best-of-three series will start at 1:00 p.m. at RTCA. RTCA is currently 11-4 on the year and FPCA comes into the game with a record of 8-16.
