Saturday was a day full of celebration for the Brewton-Parker College Softball program as the Lady Barons (25-15, 12-10 SSAC) hosted Point (Ga.) for an SSAC Senior Day doubleheader in Mount Vernon. Brewton-Parker took care of the Skyhawks (7-32, 1-21 SSAC) in a pair of 3-2 games on Saturday afternoon. Game 1 Point opened with a score off a wild pitch in the first inning. Brewton-Parker responded with a leadoff single from Bradshaw and followed up with a sacrifice bunt from Destiny Lucas before an RBI single from Tori Wright scored the leveling run.

After a scoreless second inning, the Lady Barons put together three hits to help score one in the third for a 2-1 lead. Ashley Wilson led with a single and stole second before being moved to third on a base hit from Bradshaw. Lucas brought in a run on a single for the lead.

The BPC defense did a great job in the fifth to keep the Skyhawks from scoring as the visitors notched three hits. Brewton- Parker moved to a 3-1 lead with an RBI double from Lucas to score Bradshaw as she reached on a double of her own.

In the sixth, Point pulled within a run by loading the bases and earning an RBI walk for a 3-2 score. Brewton-Parker made swift work of the visitors in the seventh to hold on to the one-run lead for the win.

The Lady Barons held a 9-6 advantage in hits and were led by three from Bradshaw who also scored two runs. Lucas recorded two hits and two RBI with Wright notching two hits and an RBI. Natalie O’Neal (13-9) pitched a complete game, gathering four strikeouts while giving up six hits, two walks, and two earned runs. Game 2 Brewton-Parker opened with three hits and two runs in the first frame. Bradshaw singled, and Lucas followed with a sacrifice bunt before Wright barreled an RBI double for the 1-0 lead. With the bases loaded, a walk from BryAnn Pound scored Wright for a 2-0 lead. In the second, the Lady Barons added a run with a bases-loaded hit-bypitch from Alyssa Usrey to move to a 3-0 lead. BPC tallied singles from Wilson, Bradshaw, and Lucas to help the offense.

A double, a single, and an RBI base hit gave the Skyhawks their first run of the game in the third inning. After a scoreless three innings, Point battled in the seventh inning by producing three straight singles with two outs to eventually score a run but that was not enough to force the game into the bottom half of the inning.

Point held an 11-9 advantage in hits. Hailey Gabrich, Bradshaw, and Wilson notched two hits each. Kira Altman (10-6) earned the win, pitching for five innings. She gave up one earned run on eight hits and one strikeout. Maeleigh Burns produced her third save of the season with two innings of threehit, one-run ball, striking out one in the process.
