County needed on this day.

Ryder Sears came on in relief for Toombs County and closed out the game to preserve the shutout, retiring one batter on a flyout to center. Defensively, the DAWGS were solid and did enough to get the job done.

Game 3

Brantley Upshaw struck out 10 batters, but the Toombs County Bulldogs fell to the Herons 5-2 on Friday. Upshaw allowed three hits and four runs over five innings while walking four.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the third inning after an Upshaw home run squeezed past the right field foul pole, scoring two runs. Unfortunately, this was all the Bulldogs could muster at the plate that day.

The Herons captured the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the fifth when Mason Thomas drew a walk, scoring one run, and Brody Yeomans homered to right field, scoring three runs.

Upshaw led Toombs County with two runs batted in. The lefthanded hitter went 1-for-2 on the day. Upshaw, Jackson Jenkins, and Tucker Braddy each collected hits for the Bulldogs.

This week, the DAWGS finish out Region play with a threegame series against Vidalia. They played the first game in Lyons on Tuesday of this week after presstime. They will play the second game on Thursday in Vidalia at 5:45 p.m., and wrap it up on Friday in Lyons at 5:45 p.m. This series is crucial for the Bulldogs as a win would solidify a spot in the GHSA State Playoffs.
