The Vidalia High School tennis teams competed in the Region Tournament last week with both the girls and boys falling in the first round. The Lady Indians fell to Appling County and the boys lost to Savannah Arts.

Girls

The Lady Indian tennis team faced the Pirates of Appling County Tuesday morning in Baxley for the 1st round of Region Playoffs. Vidalia’s doubles teams and 3rd singles fell to Appling giving the Pirates a 3-0 match win.

Laylah Brantley at 1st singles won her first set 6-4, and Hannah Nichols at 2nd single was fighting hard in their 2nd set when Appling withdrew from those matches after the Pirates secured the win.

The loss eliminated the girls from the playoffs. Coach Ashley Boston and Wade McLeod were pleased with the girls’ efforts, especially from the seniors who led the team well throughout the season.

Boys

The boys lost a hardfought match with Savannah Arts last week, 2-3, in the 1st round of the Region Playoffs.

Jameson Rolen and Sukumar Paidi won at 1st Doubles 7-5, 6-1, and Ryker Hutto and Stone Smith won at 2nd Doubles, 6-1, 6-2. VHS lost their other three matches as they fell to Savannah and ended their season.
